METAPHORIC SAD PORTRAIT
I saw a shoal of carp while strolling along the Han River.
I discovered that their world is not much different from contemporary society I belong to when seeing that school of fish made up of blind followers.
Unlike fancy carp bred for ornamental use, common carp is hard to identify because they live in turbid water. However, turbid water in which carp lives appears lucid and gray carp appear vivid in
photographs taken using infrared rays. This is suggestive of the stupid public who are more strongly wedded to false images than genuine ones just as celebrities fabricate their images through the
mass media.
After all, a shoal of carp I capture is a sad portrait of those living in contemporary society whose identities are absent and blind.
